Art on the Arch

Artist Singh, who has penchant for challenges, went to
emporia city government asking them about the possibility of making a painting
(4 feet/16 feet) on the arch of the bridge. The city manager was impressed with
the idea but was more than concern about the safety factors. Marvin Maghathan,
structure engineer was arranged to design the metal scuffling to support the
painting on the arch . Kansas winds were the major factor of concern in
this project. Some people thought it was crazy idea for any artist to implement.
but for artist Singh it was a learning curve. "I never new that I could get so
tired just standing up there for few hours. it was the wind that worked my
muscles so much while I was balancing my self up there."

"The subject matter of this painting is great - the idea of
making a painting on the bridge became the subject matter of my painting.
I was very successful in implementing my idea up there. Basically I was
making a painting of myself making a painting on the bridge. I made a painting
within a painting . Myself on the bridge and back ground is shown with a
dizzi effect, that's how I felt up there and painting within a painting is shown
in very realistic style to create clear distinction of being at height and on
land".
